HOW MUCH DOES A HOT TUB COST?

7:37 am/in News /by Flint Hills Spas

“How much does a hot tub cost?”

This is a common question we get from both first time shoppers and those replacing an old hot tub who haven’t shopped for perhaps 10 or 20 years. The answer on hot tub cost is it depends (yes, you’re welcome). A number of factors influence how much you’ll pay for a hot tub.

SIZE, SEATING & PUMPS

On the whole, this is the number 1 determinant of hot tub cost. It makes sense: the bigger the unit, the more expensive it’s likely to be. Well-made hot tubs will have more seats and more jet pumps on bigger hot tubs, and this contributes to the higher cost. We say “well made” because many off-brand, online, or “big-box” hot tubs compromise on pump size regardless of hot tub size. They may stick a couple small jet pumps (as measured by horsepower) in a big unit to keep their costs down, but that just means low water flow and weak jet action.

FEATURES

The next determinant of the cost of the hot tub is the features you select. Again, the more features you choose, the higher the cost will be. Options like lighting, water features, stereos, WiFi, upgraded filtration…these all will influence cost. That’s not to say you SHOULDN’T pick the options you want; a hot tub is something you should expect to have for 10-15 years or more. It’s not a car that you trade in and out of every 3 or 5 or 7 years. Getting what you want in a hot tub the first time can actually save you money over the long-term.

SALE PRICES & FINANCING

Buying during big sales or promotional events will obviously save you money. Most dealers have several “big sales” a year. And, most dealers also offer financing as a means to keeping the payments on a hot tub low and manageable to the buyer. You may be able to get an extra discount if you elect NOT to finance – ask your dealer about this if you’re planning to pay outright.

THE BOTTOM LINE?

At Flint Hills Spas, we have hot tub models starting in the upper $3000s, top selling 6-7 seaters from $6000 to $8000, and other models from $8000 on up. The best thing you can do is consider what specific reasons you have to buy a hot tub (therapy, relaxation, family time, entertainment), how many people will be using it, where it’s going to go…then come see us to narrow down 2-3 options. Our job is to ask the right questions and give you a thorough education so that you can make the right decision for your family. We are even available do a site inspection before you purchase to help aid in the decision-making process.
