COLD SNAP! WHAT TO DO WITH THE HOT TUB?!

Frozen Hot Tub

Many hot tub owners LOVE a cold snap. That feeling of dipping into a steaming hot tub to warm up when temperatures drop is THE BEST!  But a cold snap can present risks for your hot tub.  Here are a few quick but helpful tips:

TAKING CARE OF YOUR HOT TUB IN COLD WEATHER

* Keep the hot tub running.  If it’s empty but not winterized, fill and power it on.  Tubs not properly winterized are susceptible to freeze damage (e.g. residual water in the plumbing or equipment may freeze).

* If you lose power or your heater goes out, keep the cover closed to bottle in the heat, then call us!

* In general we recommend avoiding a drain & refill when temperatures will be below 40.  If you have to do it, fill and start up right away.

* Examine your cover.  If your cover is old, damaged, or no longer fits quite right (which means it’s not fully insulating), consider ordering a new one.

* In the event of snow, ice, or rain, BE CAREFUL entering/exiting the hot tub as the ground may be slippery.

Otherwise continue normal maintenance and operation. Check your hot tub regularly and ENJOY THE WARM AND SOOTHING WATER!
