Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I buy a hot tub?

  • Therapy?
  • Family time together?
  • Socially / with friends / entertaining?

All of the above

On what type of surface should I place my hot tub?

Most manufacturers require a continuous level surface capable of supporting 120-150 pounds per square foot, such as properly constructed wood decks, concrete slabs or even brick patios. There are molded plastic pads available which are designed specifically for hot tubs. A knowledgeable dealer can assist with proper placement and should be available to do an onsite consultation if necessary.

What else do I need to consider during the planning phase?

  • If entertaining, where will guests change?
  • Plan for tub use during the winter months so you'll be as comfortable as possible
  • Consider privacy issues as well as the view from the tub
  • Try not to have to walk across grassy areas to get to the tub. This will keep your tub cleaner!
  • Flint Hills is happy to assist with other planning as well.

What about electrical?

There are some models available that will operate on a dedicated 110 V. circuit, but you will be limited on options due to the 20 amp 110 V. circuit. Typically 40-60 amp 220 V. circuits are required. We can assist with electrical questions as well as arrange appointments for you with our electricians.

What about seating?

There are many different seating configurations to consider. This comes back to how you are planning on using your new tub. We have many different models on our showroom floor. You will be educated on all seating configurations and the pros and cons of each so that you can make the right decision based on your needs.

What kinds of benefits can I plan on receiving from using my new tub?

Stress relief, better sleep quality, arthritis relief, quiet time with family and friends away from daily distractions. If you have specific physical issues with back, neck, shoulders, leg, calf or other areas, we will address them so they receive relief also!

What are the ramifications of buying off of the internet or from a traveling road show group?

This should be obvious, however many people don't think ahead.... The internet can provide much education on manufacturers and their available product. Using the internet for that education is a great tool. When actually purchasing off the internet, how do you really know what you are going to receive? Most major manufacturers sell only through legitimate specialty retailers. When receiving your internet hot tub, you most likely will have your tub dropped curbside. You will then be responsible for moving your tub to the yard as well as wiring and initial start up. Proper start up orientation, operational orientation as well as maintenance is vital to proper spa care. Only a specialty retailer/service company can provide you with that, as well as ongoing assistance!

Buying from a "road show" presents many of those same issues. You buy a tub, they deliver it and subsequently leave town. When you really "drill down" on the pros and cons, the cons far outweigh the pluses. You will be told "these prices are only good until the show closes," and typically when you really look at the pricing, it is no less than making your investment locally.

In the long run, your tub purchase will be never more rewarding and satisfying by purchasing locally!
